This policy does not apply to Running Start*, High School Completion**, GED Students**, or Community Education Courses.
Step 1 – Apply to Skagit Valley College by filling out the application
Step 2 – Have proof of placement – Student needs to demonstrate placement that place the student into or above all of the following: English 101, Math 97 or 100 (see www.skagit.edu/placement for options).
Step 3 – Make an appointment to see a counselor by calling (360) 416-7654 at Mount Vernon Campus or (360) 679-5319 at Whidbey Island Campus. Bring to your appointment with a counselor the following items:
Step 4 – The Counselor will assess the student’s information and make the decision regarding admission.
Step 3 – Make an appointment to see the Associate Dean of Enrollment Services Students by calling (360) 416-7620 or the Associate Dean of Whidbey Island Campus by calling (360) 679-5319. Bring to your appointment the following items:
Step 4 – The appropriate associate dean will assess the student’s information and make the decision regarding admission.
Parent or guardian may be required to register with their student(s) who are high school sophomores or younger.
*Established Running Start students who wish to take courses in the summer are required to only submit permission from the principal or counselor of the school they are currently attending or the school district in which they reside.
**High School Completion and GED students must submit current school district release form.
